Klondike and Smokey City are the two oldest African American neighborhoods in Memphis.
We are right next door to downtown and brimming with history and activism.
As the Klondike Smokey City Community Development Corporation, Inc. (KSCCDC), we are committed to solutions and are strong advocates for rebuilding our neighborhoods; that means strengthening our residents and improving homes and public spaces.
We are unique in our ability to organize residents to advocate for priorities during a time of rapidly increasing development and the potential for neighborhood change that runs the risk of displacing long-term residents and families.
We are recognized as the voice of the community, and we work closely with other organizations to create a sustainable and livable community that will improve the quality of life for residents.
We believe that an improved quality of life will be achieved by addressing issues that specifically affect our neighborhoods through partnerships with other non-profit groups and governmental agencies.
We are consistent and persistent in our advocacy and community organizing and are recognized as the voice of the community. Our programs are designed and delivered with integrity. We focus on community needs as defined by community residents.
